Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Supervisors and Managers, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:          

  • Offer genuine sense of hospitality at each point of guest contact 
  • Entice guests with your passion of craft cocktails and spirits
  • Make food and beverage recommendations you genuinely feel our guests will enjoy
  • Prepare drinks at the highest quality following proper measurements and recipes
  • Ensure bar team are providing a fun and engaging bar experience for all guests
  • Consistently offer a professional, friendly and engaging service adhered to FORBES 5 Star Dining and Bar Standards
  • Maintain strong knowledge of all food and beverage menus, menu ingredients, and guest preferences
  • Take lead in creative process of cocktail menus making sure the bar program is refreshed, up to date and trend forward
  • Create specialty cocktails for unique events, promotions or selected dates
  • Supervise/support the preparations of daily duties and service including ordering, stocking, pre-batching are being completed accurately and timely fashion 
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the bar including cleanliness and upkeep of work space, menu upkeep, cleaning of guest areas, tools, equipment and work orders 
  • Provide leadership support to the bar team in absence of leader 
  • Motivated to learn and to teach on a daily basis, conduct cocktail training, seminars, and bring enthusiasm for the cocktail program
  • Complete the train the trainer program and take on role of departmental trainer, participating in monthly trainer meetings, updating training manuals and SOP’s, and provide all new colleague on boarding as well as existing colleague training in full
  • Ensure bar and liquor controls are in place and maintained at all times
  • Account for all liquor and bar stock, its quality, and the product received, maintain liquor inventory, assist with monthly liquor inventory and verify inventory data
  • Follow standards of conduct, safety, sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A passion for all things hospitality is required
  • The ability to be happy and welcoming, responsive and solution oriented is a must
  • Previous experience in shaking, stirring and coming up with mouth watering drinks is a must  
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to handle the pressures of providing excellent service in a fast paced atmosphere with genuine interest and passion for food, wine and crafted cocktails
  • Must have Food Safe Level I and BC Serving It Right Certificates
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):        

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps 

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
