Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery is looking for an enthusiastic and quality-focused Vineyard Manager and Assistant Winemaker to join their expanding vineyard and winery.
The successful candidate will be a full time salaried employee responsible for the day-to-day vineyard operations and provide cellar assistance to the winemaker. We are looking for a team player and leader with good interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with the owners and winemaker and manage a team of staff in the vineyard. The ability to plan and execute detailed and quality driven work while managing multiple priorities is imperative. Hands on work and good mechanical skills are a daily requirement of the job, welding experience an asset.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, in conjunction with consultation from owners and winemaker:
- Executing a vineyard management plan and managing all vineyard staff
- Engaging in all vineyard activities, including pruning, fertilization, sprays, equipment repair, etc. as well as keeping detailed records.
- Helping to develop, and execute a harvest and winemaking plan, following detailed winemaking steps in collaboration with owners and winemaker
- All day-to-day winemaking activities, including
o lab analysis, record keeping, equipment cleaning, crush, fermentation management, fining and stabilizing, barrel work, tasting, blending and filtration, and bottling.
