We are looking for a new winemaker to take the reins and join our team.
We are a small boutique winery in the Annapolis Valley that focuses on small batches of premium still wines. We source our grapes from our estate vineyard and locally grown Nova Scotia grapes.
We also have some fruit wines from locally sourced fruit.
Qualities and Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma in Oenology and Viticulture, but not a must
- Experience in cellar operations, in particular work with cold climate varietals and also fruit wines
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cellar work at winery
- Must have prior lab technician experience
- Ability to the represent the winery and the brand at public events (winery tours)
- Forklift certification an asset
- Computer skills and literate in Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle physical work
- Solid problem solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to handle physical work
- Organized
- Self- motivated but able to work well in a team
- Willing to work long hours when needed
- Cleanliness
Roles and Responsibilities
- Head Winemaker
- Executing all winemaking associated tasks such as fermentation, racking, filtering, sanitation, transfers, preparing wines for bottling, bottling.
- Preventative maintenance on winery equipment (i.e. press, pumps, etc.)
- Organizing shipment of orders
- Recording daily reports of work completed (cellar book)
- Manage the inventory and supply of winemaking materials
- Management bulk and bottled wine inventory
- Record keeping for bottling, audits etc.
- Assist in Vineyard duties when required
This is a full-time, salaried position. Remuneration is based on skills and experience.
However, contract work may be possible as well.
