Job Description

Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing is seeking an organized and customer focused individual to take on the extremely important position of Sommelier.  This position entails managing an expansive wine list with over 700 positions, and buying for our discerning clientele.  The Sommelier makes recommendations and sales of wines to our guests, with the knowledge and ability to address guests’ food and wine related questions.  Additionally responsible for the wine inventories for both the main resort in Blue River and the Albreda Lodge - this includes all ordering and storage of all wines for both as well as maintenance of wine menus. Given the cyclical nature and location of our business, we depend on our suppliers and must ensure we effectively communicate with them.  Duties also include serving in the dining room, arranging wine tastings, ensuring the security of the wine room and cellar.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Sommelier accreditation required
  • Serving It Right certification
  • Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English
  • Ability to perform wine related training and oversee day to day operations
  • Responsible for all aspects of the wine program including making recommendations to guests
  • Self-organized and punctual with a well groomed appearance and professional attitude
  • The position commands a high level of adaptability and change that need to be dealt with easily, concerning both work and social environment
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and have strong initiative
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willing to work a variety of day and weekend shifts
  • Ability to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly
  • Second Language (German) preferred
  • Bondable
