Our Head Office is in Richmond, British Columbia and we have a full sales team in each province, selling exciting brands from top-growth Bordeaux and Whiskies, to craft beers, boutique wines and everyday affordably priced products across all of Western Canada. Job Description:

The role of the Alberta Sales Manager is to motivate, mentor and support the Bacchus sales team while managing, presenting and growing the chain account business. He or she will be directly responsible for the sales team meeting and exceeding monthly and quarterly sales objectives within an existing structure while also actively calling on key chain account customers. The Sales Manager will also be responsible for supporting and directing the efforts of sales team members who also have chain account responsibilities.

The sales manager play an integral role in driving sales through the creation of successful strategies while working closely with the Director of Marketing. The sales manager will be well versed in using quantitative data with the addition of qualitative field insights to develop and execute effective sales and marketing strategies. The successful candidate will be a leader by nature and example, focused on unlocking and supporting the positive energy of each team member to ignite their drive, creativity and passion to ensure success and goal attainment. They will be a seasoned trainer and coach and a sales and marketing professional who understands the fundamentals and crucial importance of developing and nurturing brand equity.

The Sales Manager is the face of the company and will always hold it in high regard. They will always strive to treat the sales team with respect while keeping them to account. They will be passionate and enthusiastic and will represent our brands with pride.

He or she will report to the Vice President of Sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

§    Assists in the creation of an annual sales plan; utilizing their understanding of the industry and marketplace and conveys that knowledge through sales and marketing strategy of our brands      

§    Sets annual case sales targets and synthesizes them down to individual sales territories

§    Recruits, selects and hires new salespeople to meet the needs of the business

§    Provides ongoing and regular performance feedback to salespeople; recognizing their efforts and contributions on a timely basis; provides coaching and mentoring appropriate to each individual

§    As marketing programs are developed, translates those programs into actionable initiatives for the province and individual sales territories

§    Works with the sales team to help them achieve sales quotas by maximizing opportunities within existing customer accounts, and assist in advancing sales in prospective accounts

§    Orchestrates supplier visits, and ensures those visits are maximized for customer exposure and supplier`s objectives

§    Maintains open communication between management and the sales team on company direction, strategy, and policies and procedures that affect the sales representatives and administration

Chain/Key Accounts:

§    Actively calls on key chain buyers and presents new brand proposals with sales & marketing programs

§    Supports and directs sales representatives with chain account responsibilities

Administration:

§    Analyzes brand sales performance data and competitive information as it relates to our brands

§    Generates sales and supplier reports highlighting successes while identifying opportunities

§    Works closely with the Inventory Manager on inventory levels and trends

§    Develops and implements a compensation/incentive strategy for sales representatives and takes a lead role in the reconciliation and payment of incentives for the salespeople

§    Reviews and approves salespeople’s expense reports

Experience: Post-Secondary degree and/or minimum of 5 years beverage alcohol sales experience with 2 years sales supervisor or sales manager experience. 

Skillset: Strong interpersonal skills and must be self-motivated. Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.  Must be extremely well organized and possess proven leadership abilities. Must possess an ability to manage several priorities at once and be and able to work independently. PC skills (Windows: Word/Excel/PowerPoint) are required.

Knowledge:  Working knowledge of alcoholic beverages, with special attention to fine wines.  Successful completion of several wine and spirit courses is required (such as WSET) and a desire to continue your personal development by continuing to take business and wine courses.

Requirements: Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and travel (includes overnight stays).  Must be physically fit and be able to lift and carry 40+ pounds and able to build displays or handle heavy POS material.

Additonal: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s licence and have and maintain a valid Canadian Passport. Extensive previous selling experience, existing trade relationships, people management, marketing, public relations, restaurant/wine/food experience, retail and/or event special event planning experience are assets.

Base salary plus incentive bonus, car allowance and health benefits commensurate with experience. Business related expenses are also covered. Home office based.
