Job Description:
The role of the part time on and off-premise salesperson is to cultivate new business while maintaining existing business in retail establishments and restaurants in a defined sales territory. Driving new distribution, actively selling in displays and making preferential shelving and fridge placements will be the focus when selling in the retail channel. In the on-premise channel, selling in features, garnering by-the-glass and bottle placements will be the primary goal.
Duties and responsibilities include executing monthly and quarterly sales objectives, conducting staff education seminars, performing consumer tastings, attending industry trade shows and events. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Sales Manager to ensure sales and marketing programs are effectively executed within their territory.
Consistent and efficient territory coverage and identifying new business opportunities through prospecting are crucial to this role. Consistently staying on top of competitive activity and providing feedback on trends and buying tendencies from the trade to management are key to this position. Timely and accurate sales reporting and record keeping are mandatory.
The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast paced work environment and must possess an entrepreneurial outlook. He or she will report to the Alberta Sales Manager.
Experience: Post-Secondary degree and/or minimum of 3 years beverage alcohol sales experience.
Skillset: Strong interpersonal skills and must be self-motivated. Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be extremely well organized and possess proven leadership abilities. Must possess an ability to manage several priorities at once and be and able to work independently. PC skills (Windows: Word/Excel/PowerPoint) are required.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of alcoholic beverages, with special attention to fine wines. Successful completion of a wine and spirit courses is required (such as WSET) and a desire to continue your personal development.
Requirements: Willing to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends and travel (includes overnight stays). Must be physically fit and be able to lift and carry 40+ pounds and able to build displays or handle heavy POS material.
Additonal: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s licence and have and maintain a valid Canadian Passport. Previous industry sales experience, existing trade relationships, marketing, restaurant/wine/food experience, retail and/or event special event planning experience are assets.
Base salary plus incentive bonus, car allowance and health benefits commensurate with experience. Business related expenses are also covered. Home office based. Part Time (3 days/week).
