Renaissance Wine Merchants Ltd. started in 1983 as a local Alberta wine sales agency and importer. Since that time the company has evolved into a leading and trusted importer for wine, beer and spirits in Canada’s four western provinces. Currently we are looking to fill the position of Prairie Sales Manager. This role, based in Calgary, will provide an exciting opportunity in a fascinating industry for the right candidate to apply their creative skills in a wide range of areas and really make a difference. The position reports to the General Manager.

The role is to:

1.      Manage all aspects of the day to day sales and marketing effort in the three prairie provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

 Core Tasks

➢    Work together with other company executives to achieve a well balanced and relevant product selection.

➢    Work together with Accounting + Logistics Administrator to ensure adequate stock levels of all inventory requirements are received in a timely manner.

➢    Work together with the GM in putting together and maintaining a well balanced team of sales professionals (currently consisting of eight people) in the territory. Manage this team using a variety of industry leading tools and measurements.

➢    Aid in the creation, implementation and review of critical success factors, key performance indicators and other processes deemed necessary by management for the company to achieve it’s goals and objectives.

➢    Coordinate all efforts to provide industry leading service to the customer base including managing territories and reporting through the company CRM program.

➢    Coordinate all efforts to provide industry leading service to the supplier base including managing all supplier visits to the territory.

➢    Aid in the preparation of all sales and marketing reports for management use.

➢    Lead and inspire by example.

Key Knowledge Components

➢    A thorough, practical working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing with an aptitude for continuous IT learning.

➢    An understanding and strong desire for schedules, plans, processes and logical responsibility chains.

➢    An understanding of and a strong desire for accountability.

➢    Experience, appreciation and understanding for the finer aspects of wine + spirits.

➢    An ability to develop and sustain strong brand building activities for the company’s portfolio.

Candidates Should Possess

➢    An undergraduate degree, at minimum,  in business, commerce or marketing.

➢    Experience in B to B packaged goods sales and marketing.

➢    Beverage alcohol industry experience an asset

➢    Minimum 5 years sales experience

➢    Minimum 5 years sales management experience

➢    A willingness to learn and continuously improve.

➢    An ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also to collaborate when required.

➢    A strong, transparent work ethic and ‘lead by example’ cultural values aligned perfectly with the company.

➢    A desire to be part of a small team and make a difference each day
