Prairies Marketing Coordinator

 Job Summary: 

To manage brand planning and execution for the AWSM portfolio of wines and spirits in the Prairies, observing best industry practices and ethical business methods at all times.   This position is based in Calgary.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

 1.    Competitive Analysis & Market Intelligence: 

·     Produce and analyze quarterly marketing reports including varietal ranking, top 10 reports by country of origin, etc;

·     Build and review competitive sets by brand and track quarterly activity;

·     Maintain close regular communication with the sales team plus quarterly work-with,  to ensure program development and P.O.S. is targeted and relevant;

 2.    Brand Planning & Execution:

·     Create Quarterly Marketing Presentations, ensure that programming is up-to-date and executed on-time

·     Complete liquor board marketing program applications, manage collateral design and production;

·     Measure and report on quarterly marketing programming to ensure ongoing activity is effective;

·     Work closely with Management team to ensure rep material and data requests are met

·     Responsible to Prairies Marketing Manager & AB Sales Manager/Prairies Sales Director for assistance with marketing, supplier and key account presentations, promotional materials, and sales tools, that meet AWSM standards, are complete and delivered on time;

·     Liaise with suppliers as directed to review period to period programming/brand collateral issues and assist in building market updates

·     Responsible for warehouse and POS inventory

 3.    Management/Administrative Responsibilities: 

·        Maintain accurate and current data and systems within the Charton Hobbs Group marketing systems;

·        Create and file all brand collateral on AWSM file system and serve as AB point person for AWSM website and SharePoint maintenance and development;

·        Serve as Prairies point person for social media strategy and execution

·        Manage expenses and any promotional spending within company guidelines; 

 Job Requirements:

·        Experience: University degree (BCom preferred) in Marketing or equivalent discipline and/or minimum of 1-3 years sales or marketing experience with a large wine portfolio or other important consumer products.  You will have a portfolio of examples of your work to date. 

·        Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Must be highly organized, and display excellent motivation and leadership abilities.  You should be prepared to provide examples of your written work.  You must have great PC skills (Windows: Word/Excel) and be able to extensively use the CH/AWSM web based applications for sales and planning activities.  Must be able to juggle multiple situations, and be self motivated and able to work independently.

 ·        Knowledge:  Working knowledge of the marketing of wine or of an important consumer brand.  Successful completion of several wine and spirit courses is desirable (such as WSET).

 ·        Physical: Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and travel (includes overnight stays).  Must be physically fit and be able to lift and carry 41+ pounds and able to build displays or handle heavy POS material.

 ·        Other: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s license in the Province employed.   Must have and maintain a valid Canadian Passport.Existing marketing trade relationships within the wine, spirit, hospitality industry.  Minimum 2 years marketing experience overall.
