Church & State Wines is recruiting for the position of Cellar Master. We produce 18,000 cases per annum of super-premium wines that have won an impressive array of medals in Canadian and International competitions and we have been awarded Canada’s best red wine on several occasions. We have a small, but dedicated team who are passionate about producing wines of the highest quality. The company has winemaking operations in stunning locations, both on Vancouver Island and Oliver in the Okanagan Valley.
Location: the Position will be based at our main production facility about 9km south of Oliver, BC, but winemaking operations occur at 3 of our facilities including Vancouver Island.
Qualities in the Successful Candidate:
- Self-starter, can work well on their own with minimal supervision.
- Responsible
- Mechanically inclined.
- Commitment to maintaining clean, orderly workplace.
- Meticulous, detail–oriented approach to cellar work.
- Several years experience as a cellar hand/Cellar Master is preferred.
- Formal training in cellar operations or winemaking would also be viewed favourably.
Description of the Position:
Working closely together with the winemaker, the cellar hand will be involved in all aspects of the winemaking process from crushing to bottling. Depending on individual skills, the job might also entail laboratory work.
In addition to winemaking activities, key areas of responsibility would be maintaining a spotless work environment and ensuring that all winery equipment is well-maintained and serviced as appropriate.
