Tasting Room Associate (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Laughing Stock Vineyards, a boutique family winery on the Naramata Bench, BC, is now accepting applications for a Tasting Room Associate for the 2015 season.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a passion for wine, who is outgoing, enjoys meeting new people, and can deliver excellent customer service. The ideal candidate has experience with wine sales and some formal wine education (ie WSET). Weekend shifts are standard in this position; full days on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays will be required, including long weekends. The position will start out 3 days a week over weekends in May, and increase to full time (5 days a week) in June, July, August, September, and 1st half of October.  

Job Description:

The Tasting Room Associate is responsible for the daily operations of the tasting room which is open by appointment.

Qualifications: - Exemplary customer service skills – Solid wine knowledge – Good computer skills - Must be able to stock store, including lifting 35 to 40 lb cases of wine - Able to stand for long periods of time - Professional attitude and a strong work ethic – Holds a Serving it Right certificate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Pouring sample tastes of wine - Educating guests about our wines and the winemaking process - Promoting wine sales – Explaining and promoting the Wine Clubs – Restocking of wine and merchandise - General maintenance of tasting room appearance - Packing wines and taking wine out to guest’s car when necessary - Working with the Laughing Stock team to maintain normal daily operating elements - Discerning the appropriateness of serving wine samples in regard to pour sizes, patron’s legal age and sobriety.

Time Period:  Position is available immediately. Shifts include Saturdays and Sundays 10:00 – 5:00. This seasonal position ends in mid-October when the Tasting Room closes for the season, but will begin again in May – October 2016.
