The Bacchus Group is an independent, family-owned and operated Western Canadian beer, wine and spirits agency, which has been operating since 1961. We have our Head Office in Richmond, British Columbia, and service our customers with a full sales team in each province, selling exciting brands from top-growth Bordeaux and Whiskies, to economy- priced products across all of Western Canada. The Bacchus Group is a full service agency with in-house sales, marketing, accounting and logistics personnel allowing us to make decisions quickly, and to develop and implement systems and processes internally that suit the dynamic of our team and our suppliers.
PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are currently looking for a passionate, dedicated, creative, dynamic, detailed-oriented team player who possesses strong sales & presentation skills to fill the position of sales representative in the Edmonton – Northern Alberta territory. The ideal must thrive in a collaborative working environment with a strong entrepreneurial influence.
The sales representative is responsible for selling and marketing our wine, spirit and beer brands to a defined group of customers while cultivating new business on an ongoing basis. The account based will be made up of predominantly retail customers (Independent/boutique/chain) with some on premise & restaurant responsibilities.. The sales representative end goal is for profitable sales growth that aligns with the strategic goals of the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Calling on assigned On-Premise and Retail accounts in the defined territory in order to sell and promote the company’s products
Achieving Annual Sales Targets – case volume (by brand) and distribution targets for all of our wines, spirits and beer in the defined territory
Executing customer promotions with targeted licensee/ retail accounts .
Effective budget spending and tracking to ensure you stay within the defined promotional budget
Ensure that all Promotional and Point of Sale materials are used effectively
Responsible for the entire portfolio with particular emphasis placed on growth of premium and super premium wines and spirits within the company’s portfolio
To professionally represent the Company with the customers in the market in order to improve distribution levels and promotional features (on premise / retail ) activity
Undertake, as required various promotional activities, such as tasting, presentations to members of the trade and consumers, and attendance at special promotions such as wine tastings and dinners.
Be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of all Company assets, and make certain they are in good condition while under control of the sales rep
Provide the following reports within the defined Timelines:
· Update Quarterly FOE weekly with all new wins
· Expense Reports weekly including copies of original receipts
· Local market information as requested by marketing
· Provide management with a full Event Report commenting on all aspects
· Provide management with market intelligence including sales trends, product developments and competitive activity and their achievements
Provide prompt action to all consumer and customer (retail and on premise) grievances and complaints
Demonstrate at all times a commitment to driving sales and volume of the Company products
Ensure that all activities are conducted within the Provincial and Federal laws and regulations – particularly those related to trade practices.

§ Reports to the AB Sales Manager
§ Key internal interactions: Marketing & Accounting & Inventory
§ External interactions: On-Premise customers and private and independent / chain liquor stores
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
§ Post-secondary education
§ Proven experience in an outside sales role and/or the hospitality industry
§ Broad wine knowledge – superior wine knowledge to be able to conduct wine training seminars.
§ Strong achievement orientation with a commitment to delivering business results
§ Strong team player, demonstrating the ability to maintain positive work atmosphere by communicating and working effectively with clients, manager, peers and subordinates
§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to speak and present to key decision makers and customers both internally and externally
§ Must be able to travel as necessary to be cover Northern Alberta assigned territories (Edmonton & surrounding areas)
§ Must be a person of high integrity and commitment and possess a strong work ethic
§ Ability to manage tasks, attend trade shows & special events and to exercise independent judgement without supervision
§ Strong analytical skills – ability to analyze sales trends in the territory and use the information to make sound business decisions
§ Proven efficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Compensation commensurate with skill-set and experience.
