Brand Manager (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Reports to: Vice President Marketing

 

The candidate will be responsible for the overall brand marketing of a significant portfolio of domestic and imported wines and spirits.

Responsibilities:

 

  • The development of brand plans, including appropriate market analysis and the development of marketing strategies, plans and programs
  • The ongoing liaison with suppliers, including obtaining collaboration and approval of brand plans, responding to requests for information and analysis and reports on their business on an as needed basis
  • The creation and development of various marketing support materials, including advertising materials, consumer and trade promotion programs and the assessment of promotional and sponsorship opportunities
  • The ongoing liaison with sales management with respect to the execution of annual marketing plans, sales opportunities and national account programs
  • Provide on-going update on status of all marketing budgets
  • Management of one direct report, Assistant Brand Manager
  • Liase with other corporate functional areas including accounting, finance, operations, inventory control & replenishment, sales analysis, and other related areas; and
  • Identify and capitalize on business opportunities for assigned businesses including working with the provincial regulatory authorities for the submission of new products/brands.

 

Qualifications / Skills:

  • A university degree, ideally in a Business program with a focus on Marketing
  • Minimum 5 years in a consumer packaged goods environment ideally with brand/product responsibility and some previous exposure to wine marketing
  • Exposure to a sales either through experience in a sales role or liasoning closely with a sales organization
  • A strong strategic thinker able to lead for the long-term but manages in the short-term
  • Strong analytical skills – able to see through the numbers to the solution
  • Excellent computer skills including:  Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to deliver focused messages and change behavior
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to focus group discussion/decision-making to actionable and specific results
  • Goal oriented but believes that following the process is as important as the end result
  • Exceptional attention to detail and consistent follow-up
  • Flexibility and ability to manage several priorities at once; and
  • Fluency in French, Italian or Spanish would be an asset.
