Andrew Peller Limited is one of Canada’s largest and oldest wine companies with a rich heritage in quality wine production. Our largest production facility in Ontario (Grimsby) crushes 12, 000 tonnes of fruit and is looking to hire diverse, top quality, harvest staff. We produce some of Canada’s more recognized brands and offer an excellent, challenging and rewarding harvest experience. We run a small and efficient team, and there will be opportunities to learn to use modern winemaking equipment and processes first hand, and take on roles that will develop your winery skills and techniques. 2015 is expected to be a great harvest year with a number of grape varieties, including Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay and Vidal.
Harvest is approximately 2 to 3 months in duration, beginning at the end of August and ending early to mid-November.
Job responsibilities include:
· Operating equipment in the press house and cellars to press grapes and clarify juice
· Making material additions to wine blends and transfers during fermentation
· Cleaning and Sanitizing process equipment
· Monitoring and making adjustments to process, i.e. flow rates and temperatures to fermenters
· Unloading bulk wine in a timely and efficient manor
Qualifications and skills:
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load on a daily basis
· Communicate effectively and work safely with co-workers
· Ability to lift in excess of 22 kg on a regular basis
· Substantial attention to detail required
· Must have valid working visa
· Cellar experience an asset
