We are currently seeking a hospitality focused leader to oversee the retail and hospitality operations at Sandhill Winery. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coaching the retail team to deliver customer experiences that drive our brand building expectations and revenue goals. This role requires the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when required. Typical schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday.
The successful candidate will be accountable for:
- Planning, organizing, directing and controlling effective operation of the store and wine tasting experiences including managing sales reports, the ordering of wine and non-wine, inventory management, staff scheduling, staff incentive programs, and coordination of store events.
- Developing and executing internal sales and merchandising plans to achieve financial, educational and brand building objectives.
- Supporting the Estate Manager with corporate sales, marketing, community and industry relations.
- Recruiting, training, motivating, and developing a retail and hospitality team of 15-18 employees, including performance management.
- Conducting staff meetings as well as attends meeting on behalf of the store.
- Ensuring the winery is meeting established wine club sales targets; working with the Direct to Consumer Specialist to execute wine club events.
- Promotes a health & safety culture by ensuring a safe and healthy work environment through effective operation of the Health and Safety program, joint H&S committee and compliance with EH&S regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:
- Post-secondary education in hospitality or business administration.
- 2 5 years of retail management experience.
- Understanding of wine basics with a focus on VQA wines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Outlook and Excel).
- Proven ability to be an effective leader.
- Self-motivated; able to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders).
- Ability to exercise judgement and function independently.
- Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays when required.
