Assistant Winemaker
The Okanagan Valley is one of the world’s most exciting emerging wine regions. Role Overview
The objective of Martins Lane is to put the Okanagan Valley on the map as one of the world’s leading producers of Pinot Noir and Riesling. Martins Lane Winery is a new, state of the art winery – 5 processing levels are used to gently move wine from grape to bottle.
The Assistant Winemaker will work alongside the winemaker to craft wines that are exceptional and distinctive. The role will be dynamic, focusing on all aspects of winery and cellar work. Demanding a high level of leadership and responsibility, the ideal candidate will have a superior attention to detail in their work, and embrace innovative and traditional winemaking techniques.
Experience and a high level of skill will be required in the following areas:
- University degree in a Oenology/Winemaking or applicable Science Related Field
- 2+ years in the wine industry with demonstrated supervisory aptitude
- All aspects of cellar activities – with an emphasis on barrel work
- Excellent presentation & communication skills
The Martins Lane Assistant Winemaker will require the following attributes:
- The energy, drive and enthusiasm to produce world class Pinot Noir and Riesling in one of the world’s leading regions
- An enthusiasm and fascination for fine wine and a dedication to quality.
- The ability to manage and direct temporary cellar staff, while receiving direction from the winemaker
- A never ending drive to explore and experiment at the highest level
- Proven knowledge of ultra-premium winemaking processes, styles and techniques.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and interest in fine wine.
- A strong work ethic with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- The ability to represent Martins Lane to the trade, media and highly involved wine consumers
