The Cellar Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of wine production in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring products are produced to specifications through training, managing and directly supervising a unionized workforce.
The successful candidate:
- Supervises, directs, and leads the daily activities of a unionized workforce in the Cellar Department ensuring production schedule is delivered, efficiently, safely and in compliant with operational standards (SOPs) and guidelines
- Leads, supervises, and manages unionized employees, investigating work issues and where necessary, works with the Manager to address performance and work related issues
- Problem solves and determines strategy for non-compliance of quality and HACPP requirements
- Works with and assists the Cellar Manager drive continuous improvement initiatives; develops strategies to ensure the cellar department runs optimally meeting established objectives and achieving corporate business results
- Issues, approves and prioritizes maintenance work orders
- Promotes a health & safety culture through effective operation of the Health and Safety program ensuring compliance with EH&S regulations
- Monitors plant records and performance metrics
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:
- Post-secondary education in business administration with specialization in operations management or related field OR a combination of work experience and training
- 2 – 3 years progressive supervisory experience; preferably in a winery or wine/beverage manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of and experience in best in class Good Manufacturing Procedure (GMP)
- Experience with HACPP an asset
- Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple issues simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (includes Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Team player
- Able to work weekends and shift work(days/afternoons/midnight) as required
