Cider Assistant
Wards Cidery (and The View Winery) is located in the beautiful South East Kelowna and produces award winning Cider and Wines. We are seeking a motivated, full time and permanent cider assistant to join our small and dedicated team. This position is a great opportunity to learn, grow and advance with our growing cider business. As this person will be a key individual down the line, we are willing to wait for the right applicant.
Position Responsibilites:
Above all else, applicants must have mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, troubleshooting skills, and able to work well with others in a calm and productive manner. You will assist with running our canning and bottling lines, shipping and receiving, blending and filtration of finished cider and wine products and assist with other cellar duties such as transfers, additions and innoculations as required. Some inventory and warehousing duties may be assigned as you grow into this position. During our busy harvest period (Sept-Nov) you will also be asked to help with crushing, juicing, and processing apples from our estate grown orchards. Extended hours, weekends and shift work may also be required during this harvest period. Successful applicants will be able to wear multiple hats and enjoy performing a wide range of duties as required.
Qualifications:
Must be eligible to work in Canada and 19+ years of age
Must possess a valid BC Driver’s License
Experience in a Winery or Brewery a definite asset
Fork Lift Experience an asset - will provide further training if required
Good with equipment and machinery
Highly motivated and have a strong work ethic
Work well with a team and independently
Strong communication skills
Able to lift 50 lbs, work at heights and in confined spaces
Strong adherence to health, safety and operational procedures
Ability to problem solve and prioritize tasks
Interested in making high quality cider.
Hourly wage is negotiable depending on experience.
