About us

The View Winery/Wards Cidery is a family-owned, land-based winery and cidery located on approximately 140 acres in South East Kelowna. We grow cider apples and wine grapes for our estate-crafted wine and cider products. We are seeking an energetic individual who enjoys working outdoors and who prefers to be employed in physically active roles. We offer a positive, family-like work environment where all employees feel valued and empowered. Seasonal staff gatherings are hosted by the company, and free staff lunches are provided every Friday during harvest (September/October). Housing is available on-sight and a company vehicle is available during the work-day.

Duties

- Manage and oversee 5-23 workers and daily operations of the orchard and vineyard, including irrigation, pruning, mowing, pest control, planting, harvesting, and maintenance activities.

- Operate and maintain tractors, sprayers, mowers, hand tools, and power tools

- Supervise Irrigation of trees and vines and ensure proper watering schedules

- Monitor and control pests and diseases

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the orchard, vineyard and work shop.

- Coordinate with suppliers for the procurement of necessary materials and equipment

- Train and supervise workers to ensure efficient workflow

- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement necessary precautions

Requirements

-valid drivers license

-valid permit to work in Canada (LMIA assistance available for the right applicant)

- at least two years of previous experience in orchard and/or vineyard operations

- valid Pesticide Applicator license

- Knowledge of tractors, sprayers, hand tools, and power tools

- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and implement maintenance schedules

- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor in various weather conditions

- Experience with irrigation and pest control

- Proficient in basic math for chemical application rates , inventory management, and budgeting purposes

- Experience operating heavy equipment is a plus

- Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively manage a team (Spanish-speaking skills would be a bonus)

 

$30 - $35/hour depending on skills and experience
