The British Columbia Wine Institute is the lead trade organization for the British Columbia Wine Industry. We are a member-based organization responsible for the marketing and promotion of the Wines of British Columbia brand. We are currently accepting applications for an Events & Marketing Coordinator to join our team. Reporting directly to the Marketing Manager, you will be primarily responsible for coordinating and executing events for the British Columbia Wine Institute and be required to assist with other marketing functions from time to time. The position is an integral part of a small focused team. The ability to manage a large work load and conflicting deadlines, strong time management, and a high level of attention to detail will assure success in this role.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- planning and execution of BCWI trade and media events
- planning and execution of BCWI member events
- planning and execution of BCWI consumer events
- evaluation of requests for participation as event sponsors
- collating information and executing event materials such as booklets, etc.
- website maintenance, as relates to BCWI event
- monitoring and reporting effectiveness of event
- event budget management
- general administration tasks and support to the marketing team as required
- reception tasks, including but not limited to: receiving guests; processing incoming and outgoing mail; sending and receiving large quantities of shipments; etc.
Skills and qualifications
- 5 years’ experience in an events/marketing position
- post secondary education in events planning desirable
- marketing or communications degree desirable
- wine industry-specific marketing, communications and/or event planning experience an asset
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- ability to relate to all levels of stakeholders
- good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and Adobe products
- online email automation software experience an asset
- self‐motivated and able to manage own time and priorities with limited supervision
- travel at the expense of the British Columbia Wine Institute may be required from time to time
- this position requires the incumbent to be able to lift and/or move large and/or heavy items
