This is a 12-month fixed term contract position based in Kelowna, BC
The British Columbia Wine Institute is the lead trade organisation for the British Columbia Wine Industry. We are a member based organisation responsible for the marketing and promotion of The Wines of British Columbia brand.
We are currently accepting applications for a Marketing Manager for a one-year fixed term contract role to join our team. Reporting directly to the Marketing Director you will be responsible for assisting with the execution of the annual Marketing plan. The position is an integral part of a small focused team. The ability to manage a large work load, conflicting deadlines, strong time management and a high level of attention to detail will assure success in this role.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Trade Marketing
- Develop and execute marketing programs with key trade channels in BC including
- Develop and execute marketing programs with key trade channels in other priority markets including Alberta and Ontario
Consumer Marketing
- Execute consumer programs in trade channels
- Develop and Execute marketing campaigns directed at consumers
Marketing Strategy
- Work closely with Marketing Director towards Developing the Marketing Strategy supporting the Marketing Objectives of the overall Wines of British Columbia Strategic Plan.
Tour Planning
- Coordinate winery tours for trade, provincial and federal government officials at the direction of the Marketing Director or President and CEO.
Education Programs
- Work with key facilitators to organize and execute the Wines of BC Ambassador Programs throughout BC targeting key trade and winery tasting room staff.
- Grow the ambassador programs in key Alberta markets, targeting key trade.
Event Planning
- Work closely with Marketing Director to organize Vancouver International Wine Festival Regional tasting booth and key events / seminars.
General
- Travel to and attend BCWI events from time to time.
- Monitor effectiveness of programs
- Monitor and deliver projects within budget and deadlines
- Maintain and update industry reference documents
- General administration tasks as required
- Team support as required
Skills and qualifications
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in a Marketing department
- marketing or communications degree desirable
- Wine industry-related marketing, communications and/or event planning experience an asset.
- Energetic and people oriented.
- Must be able to manage many high priority tasks with tight deadlines.
- Must be organized and be able to adapt to change.
- Driven, motivated and able to take the initiative.
- Able to work autonomously in a sometimes high-pressure work environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to relate to all levels of government and industry.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Graphic design skills considered advantageous.
- British Columbia drivers license required.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be physically able to perform duties listed above, including lifting or moving heavy objects such as cases of wine, file boxes or other items as needed.
- Travel at the expense of the BC Wine Institute may be required from time to time
