Winemaker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

St Hubertus & Oak Bay Estate Winery is looking for an enthusiastic Winemaker.

we are focusing on high quality 100% estate grown VQA wines. We farm 80 acres of cold climate grapes and produce around 12 000 cases annually. This is a full-time, year-round position.

 

The ideal candidate must be willing to assist in all areas of the winery such as cellar work, bottling, vineyard and events. This is a great opportunity for an assistant winemaker with the right amount of experience who would like to take a step up.

  • Degree or diploma in Enology or related field
  • Experience with Pinot Noir and Riesling.
  • 5+ years cellar experience including crush, lab procedures, sanitation and bottling
  • Able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and longer hours during peak periods
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, able to follow direction and work independently
  • Supervisory and/or management experience
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Currently present and allowed to work in Canada
  • Fork lift operator certificate
  • SIR certification
  • Able to start within 4 – 6 weeks

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and work closely with owner and Vineyardmanager
  • Daily cellar operations including cleaning, racking, filtering, barrel work, maintenance, etc
  • Record keeping and laboratory analysis
  • Bottling organization and supervision
  • Vineyard operations as needed



Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
