Wineshop Manager (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

One of Kelowna's very first wineries, Summerhill has led the way in terms of Organic and Biodynamic winemaking since 1991. A 30,000 case winery, home to some of the Okanagan's oldest vines and one of the best views of the lake, Summerhill is dedicated to producing some of Canada's most award-winning wines. 

Summerhill is looking for a passionate, energetic individual to lead the Wineshop, including all aspects of the tasting room and pyramid experience tours. 

 Responsibilites:

  • Provide guests with a professional and educational wine tasting experience
  • Manage a large team of sales associates, greeters and support staff
  • Develop and implement systems to ensure sales targets are met
  • Conduct exemplary winery tours for guests
  • Execute on shelf merchandising and promotional programming, in conjuction with the sales manager. 
  • Ordering and stocking of merchandise throughout the wineshop 
  • Organise and direct tours and appointments within the wineshop, ensuring tours are well lead.
  • Develop and execute education programs for the wineshop team

Qualifications and attributes:

Successful candidates must have the following attributes: 

  • A minimum two years leadership experience
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Friendly outgoing personality eager to learn new skills and work in a small team environment
  • Retail sales experience (tasting room sales preferred)
  • Experience as a supervisor or team leader
  • Flexibility in scheduling with availability to work weekends and evenings
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a broad range to activities
  • Solid knowledge of and passion for wine (formal training preferred – ISG or WSET)
  • Serving It Right certificate
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
