Duties and Responsibilities
Requirements of the position:
- College or degree in Oenology with experience of at least one vintage. Preference given to those with a B.Sc.
- High degree of organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated history and willingness to work cooperatively with a team
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Able to lift cases of wine (approx. 37lbs) repeatedly
- Must be eligible to work in Canada and 19+ years of age
- Perform cellar activities, including, but not limited to, racking, blending, filtration, barrel work, and bottling.
- Take part in all harvest activities, including fruit receipt, sorting, destemming, pressing, and fermentation.
- Maintain the cellar to the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation at all times.
- Cleaning, maintenance, and repair of winery equipment.
- Assist with harvest and in the supervision of harvest staff.
- Help in maintaining health and safety standards at the highest level.
- Able to drive a forklift. Training is available.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Able to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Superior communication skills.
- Able to work overtime and weekends during harvest and occasionally throughout the year.
- Legally able to work in Canada.
- Willing to work in the vineyard when avaialble.
