Events Manager

Job Description
The Events Manager is responsible for creating memorable experiences for our customers through the utilization of our event spaces, facilities and staff while promoting the Backyard Vineyards Brand. A well-executed event should highlight our wines, our facility and outstanding service. The Events Manager is responsible for planning, promoting and executing all onsite and offsite events. The Events Manager will work with the Wine Shop Manager in scheduling the events and tasting room staff working the event.


Duties and Responsibilities 
• Provide the highest level of customer service while serving as a leader.  This includes managing and motivating staff to provide outstanding service, leading by example and modeling outstanding service at all times.
• Serve as primary contact for individual, organization and businesses interested in the use of the Winery facilities or in having a Winery representative attend their off-site event. 
• Manage and develop full-time and part-time staff to ensure highest levels of service. 
• Work to maintain a core group of event staff. Assist the Wine Shop Manager in training staff for events. 
• In collaboration with the Wine Shop Manager work to develop new onsite experiences that highlight our facilities, wine and prepared food offerings. 
• Participate in networking and trade events to promote referral business and build contacts.
• Collaborate with Marketing Department, develop and execute strategies to grow events business. Actively seek out new events. Foster relationships with tour companies and event planners to encourage group tours/tastings. 
• Oversee execution of operational plans in support of overall goals established for food and events and within budget parameters.
• Oversee sourcing and maintenance of necessary resources for all events both onsite and offsite (table throws, displays, dishware, furniture, etc.) and food services (food, kitchen services, etc.). 
• Oversee all trade shows, wine festivals, VIP tours (tour buses, media tours) bridal showers and weddings and corporate events.
• Ensure communication and coordination with leadership team and Wine Shop Manager regarding upcoming events. 
• Maintain, evaluate and provide periodic reports on the guest comments and feedback.
• Serve as a winery representative at community events/organizations to promote winery opportunities.
• Manage and attend onsite and offsite events, as necessary (Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Groups, etc.)
• Must be flexible as events may be on evenings and weekends. Must be able to work independently when necessary. 
• Ability to review food offerings and reflect pairings to elevate the customer experience. 
• Oversee management of calendar for Winery venues. 
• Other duties as assigned by leadership team and Wine Shop Manager.

• Prompt reply to all inquiries and reservations via phone, email and social media.

Job Requirements

• Bachelors or Associate's Degree, preferably in Hospitality, Tourism or Event Management. 
• 2-3 year’s previous experience in a similar position. 
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License, Serving It Right and Food Safe Certification.

• A demonstrated passion for wine and/or formal training is considered an asset (WSET or ISG).
• Position is full-time with irregular work hours including evenings and weekends.

• Must be able to comfortably lift items over 40 lbs.

 The Ideal Candidate will have a professional, polished and positive disposition along with excellent process and attention to detail orientation. They must have the ability to display consistent leadership while simultaneously handling competing and changing priorities and projects. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate would be innovative, team-oriented but also have the ability to work independently while possessing a passion for building and maintaining long standing relationships with our customers.

Compensation

 This is a full time position to commence immediately. Compensation commensurate with experience.
