Hospitality & Events Manager
Fort Berens Estate Winery is looking for a suitable candidate to lead our hospitality team. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual with many talents to join our growing winery. The candidate must be comfortable working both independently and as a part of a team. Must be a self-starter who is detail oriented and conscientious.
Fort Berens Estate Winery is Lillooet’s first winery and is growing rapidly. We have created a destination winery, where people come to enjoy lunch and a glass of wine on the patio, sample our award winning wines in the tasting room or gather for private and public events, including weddings, dinner parties, concerts and more.
Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the Hospitality & Events Manager are to manage the tasting room, the patio and the events.
Hospitality
- Provide leadership a small team of seasonal Tasting Room and Patio staff
- Management duties include including hiring, scheduling, training, health & safety, and supervision
- Provide an exemplary Tasting Room and Patio guest experience that builds lasting customer relationships
- Purchase of merchandise and supplies
- Promptly reply to Tasting Room and Patio inquiries and reservations via email, phone and social media
- Maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the Tasting Room and Patio and surrounding areas
- Administrative tasks, including daily cash out & reconciliations, inventory control and
Event Planning
- Coordinate all activities for private winery events, public winery events and discovery club winery events
- Develop, plan and execute for memorable events at the winery
- Work with third party vendors to provide full service offering
This role requires a collaborative working relationship with the Winemaking team, the Executive Chef, the Discovery Club Coordinator and the Director of Direct-To-Consumer Sales and Marketing.
Qualifications:
- Ability to Work independently and as part of an team
- Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service
- Experience as a supervisor or team leader
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in wine retail sales or hospitality
- A warm and outgoing personality
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Must be willing to work weekends and evenings
- Solid knowledge of and/or a demonstrated passion for wine, with formal training considered an asset (ISG, WSET, etc)
- Serving It Right certificate & driver’s license
- Candidates must be in good health and be able to carry 16kg comfortably
