Sales Representative (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

The primary responsibility of this multi channel role is to develop the Vintage West portfolio, achieve sales volume and brand distribution targets, and profit in the defined territory through focus and execution on the Company’s products and programs by performing the following duties:

 

Ÿ  Calling on all Retail stores (Liquor Board and/or Private) and targeted licensee (on-premise) and key accounts,  in the defined territory in order to sell and promote the Company’s products

 

Ÿ  Achieving annual sales targets – case volume (by brand) and distribution targets (retail and licensee) for our wines in the defined territory.

 

Ÿ  Executing retail promotions and displays; managing inventory levels in Liquor Board and private retail stores in the defined territory for VWWM’s family of brands.

 

Ÿ  Managing all retail shelf sets within assigned territory in accordance with company standards and Liquor Board/retailer regulations

 

Ÿ  Executing on-premise promotions with targeted licensee accounts and key accounts.

 

Ÿ  Effective budget spending and tracking to ensure you stay within the defined promotional budget.

 

Ÿ  Ensure that all promotional and Point-of-Sale materials are used effectively.

 

Ÿ  Responsible for the entire VWWM portfolio with particular emphasis placed on the growth of sales of highlighted wines in the Company’s portfolio. 

 

Ÿ  To professionally represent the Company with the customers in the market in order to improve distribution levels, shelf space, display and feature (on premise) activity.

 

Ÿ  Undertake, as required, various promotional activities, such as tasting, presentations to members of the trade and consumers, and attendance at special promotions, such as wine tasting, dinners etc.

 

Ÿ  Participate in “Crew Drives” in markets outside the primary territory during peak volume periods (e.g. December)

 

Ÿ  Be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of all Company assets, and making certain they are in good condition while under control of the sales representative.

 

Ÿ  Provide the following reports within the defined timelines:

 

o   

Monthly and Weekly Sales Report - Accounts called on and results – highlighting

o    Planning reports for display activity, new distribution and On Premise objectives

 

o    Expense reports, including original receipts and documentation on a monthly basis.

 

o    Local market information as requested by Company management

 

Ÿ  Provide management with market intelligence including sales trends, product developments and competitor activity and their achievements

 

Ÿ  Provide prompt action to all consumer and customer (retail and on-premise) grievances and complaints.

 

Ÿ  Demonstrate at all times a commitment to driving sales and volume of VWWM’s products.

 

 

Ensure that all activities are conducted within the Provincial and Federal laws and regulations - particularly those related to trade practicessuccesses and achievements

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, experience and/or abilities required.

 

Ÿ  Broad wine knowledge – basic understanding of wine with confidence to conduct product education seminars.

 

Ÿ  University or College degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Ÿ  Strong achievement orientation with a commitment to delivering business results.

 

Ÿ  Strong customer orientation, possessing strong negotiation and mediation skills with the ability to motivate others to achieve mutually beneficial sales objectives.

 

Ÿ  Strong team player, demonstrating the ability to maintain positive work atmosphere by communicating and working effectively with clients, management, peers, and subordinates.

 

Ÿ  Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to speak and present to key decision makers and customers both internally and externally.

 

Ÿ  Must be able to travel as necessary to be physically present at events or meetings where his or her personal presence is required.

 

Ÿ  Must be a person of high integrity and commitment and possess a strong work ethic.

 

Ÿ  Ability to manage tasks and to exercise independent judgment without supervision.

 

Ÿ  Strong analytical skills – ability to analyze sales trends in the territory and use the information to make sound business decisions

 

Ÿ  Excellent organization skills, accurate and detailed oriented.

 

Ÿ  Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), desktop publishing programs.
