Monte Creek Ranch is currently seeking a qualified person to work in the position of Cellar Hand.  This is a full time, permanent position.  Monte Creek Ranch is a 15,000 case winery located in the South Thompson valley, 20 minutes East of Kamloops.  Our 1200 acre ranch contains 65 acres of vineyard and our new production facility.  Our objective is to produce premium wines that reflect and respect our unique terrior, while also delivering value to the customer.  Thanks to our youthful and dynamic team, we are one of the fastest growing brands in British Columbia, and want someone who shares our energy, dedication and passion.  We are searching for someone who has a very high level of attention to detail and who is a self-starter.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Perform cellar activities, including, but not limited to, racking, blending, filtration, barrel work, and bottling.

-Take part in all harvest activities, including fruit receipt, sorting, destemming, pressing, and fermentation.

-Maintain the cellar to the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation at all times.

-Cleaning, maintenance, and repair of winery equipment.

-Maintain an inventory of cellar supplies and bottling components.

-Assist in the supervision of harvest staff.

-Help in maintaining health and safety standards at the highest level.

Qualifications

-Education in enology and viticulture.  Preference given to those with a B.Sc.

-Previous cellar experience.  Preferably in a year round position that goes beyond harvest work.

-Moderate to high degree of mechanical aptitude.

-Able to drive a forklift.

-Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.  Able to prioritize tasks and work independently.

-Superior communication skills.

-Able to move/lift up to 22 kilograms.

-Able to work overtime and weekends during harvest and occasionally throughout the year.

-Legally able to work and drive in Canada.

Compensation will be awarded at between $32,000 and $38,000 per year and will be dependent upon experience. Overtime during harvest will be awarded as time accrued. Company benefits are available and relocation assistance may be negotiated.
