The position we are offering is for Vintage Winemaker under the direction of the Executive Winemaker. You will undertake the following responsibilities:
Perform Cellar and Barrel Room tasks including but not limited to:
- Red and White grape maturity monitoring
- Grape harvest: sparkling, red, white, late harvest and icewine
- Sparkling, white, red, late harvest and icewine grape processing
- Primary ferment operations and processes for whites, reds, sweet wines
- Monitor and analyze ferment operations
- Carry out barrel operations: racking, blending
- Make additions to juice or wine as per analyses results
- Lead the cellar hand team in cellar processes and hygiene.
- 2 years experience required
- Must be able to operate a Forklift
- Must be able to operate machinery as well as hand tools
- Needs to understand math and use meters
- Must follow and understand safety guidelines
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Working conditions in certain areas of the winery are cold, wet, slippery and noisy. Flexible work schedules, including swing and night shifts, and overtime may be required, particularly during crush. The job may require the handling of hazardous materials on an occasional basis. Requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis and frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and ladders, bending, standing for long periods and carrying/moving equipment and supplies.
