Joie (pronounced zh-wah) is a farmhouse winery on the beautiful Naramata Bench internationally celebrated for its aromatic whites and Burgundian-style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. As an active participant in the local food and wine culture of the Canadian Pacific West Coast, we create wines that intentionally pair with local cuisine and in 2017 will be showcasing them in our new hospitality facility.
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate professional to lead our Tasting Room -- a food and wine lover dedicated to creating and promoting the potential of aromatic whites and Burgundian reds as the signature wines of our cool-climate winemaking region.
Position: Tasting Room Manager
Employment Dates: April 2017 – October 2017
This position is for Tasting Room Manager to commence in 2017 in the new hospitality facility designed for fast-paced, efficient, and high-level of hospitality execution. Working directly with the General Manager and Presentation Manager, the Tasting Room Manager is responsible for the following tasks:
1. Execute set-up of new tasting room space in conjunction with Owner and General Manager;
2. Work with Presentation Manager and General Manager to hire, train, and lead tasting room retail associates;
3. Order and organize supplies and merchandise;
4. Record and reconcile monthly inventory;
5. Act as facilitator between back-end logistics and front-end execution;
6. Work with external contractors and internal team members to maintain high-level of aesthetic in tasting room, Picnique, and public spaces; and
7. Act as liaison between Picnique team and Joie team.
The individual filling this roll will focus on logistical running of the tasting room space. The successful candidate will possess the following:
· Formal wine training (WSET 3 or equivalent)
· Minimum 3-5 years in management position
· Career of hospitality experience in Tasting Rooms or comparable
· Ability to safely lift 50lbs
· Serving It Right Certified
· Second language is an asset
· Professionalism and maturity
· Leadership skills and ability to lead by example
· High-level of execution and attention to detail
· Efficient worker and ability to problem solve
· Outstanding communication and customer service skills
This is a seasonal salaried position to commence in April 2017 until Autumn 2017. Compensation commensurate with experience.
