Supervisor, Plant (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Position

The successful applicant will be responsible for the day to day activities in a unionized commercial bottling facility. As a leader, the candidate will actively take part in improving the operations, seek ways to support the teams, improving performance and quality and finding solutions to issues.  Expectations will be to meet and exceed production requirements while maintaining OHSA, HACCP, ISO &GMP standards and align to the Collective Agreement.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Lead by example with integrity and respect for all employees.
  • Assist in the creation of a culture of Continuous improvement, Safety, Quality and Productivity
  • Delegate work throughout the shift, and support other shifts to ensure peer needs are met
  • Conduct Environmental, Health & Safety training sessions
  • Work with departments including Quality, wine-making, logistics and maintenance
  • Plan and assign work duties for employees under their supervision to meet operational objectives.
  • Assist in the scheduling of manpower to facilitate production requirements
  • Perform weekly / monthly health and safety inspections of the facility
  • Maintain and verify the employee time keeping record system (Kronos)
  • Motivate the team and hold direct reports accountable through clear expectations.
  • Initiate corrective actions as required to maintain company  quality and safety policies
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying potential cost savings and quality / productivity  improvements
  • Identify, address and follow-up on the training needs of employees.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in a Technical or Science field with 3-5 years similar experience in a production supervisory role
  • Team player with leadership abilities
  • Experience in a unionized food/beverage manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Understanding and implementation of  the ESA, ISO/ GMP, HACCP standards
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel etc.)
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and time-keeping software,
  • Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Previous project management experience would be an asset
