Diamond Estates Winery is home to a wide selection of top-selling VQA wines, including Lakeview Cellars, EastDell, 20 Bees, FRESH wines, 1914 wines and Dan Aykroyd’s line of wines, producing 200,000 cases/year. The winery produces a full range of red, white and rosé table wines, Icewine and other dessert and fruit wines.
With a full state of the art lab, an extensive barrel cellar, and 4 million-liter tank capacity, we offer training on, and exposure to, a wide variety of techniques, equipment and innovations practiced in our winemaking facility.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic full time Cellar Assistant to start May 1 2017
This position will involve a full range of winery duties and follow safe working practices while reporting to the Winemakers and taking direction from the Oenologist and Bottling Line Supervisor
Responsibilities include:
• Set up pumps and hoses to perform wine transfers, racking and filling of transport tankers.
• Operate grape receiving equipment during Harvest time such as over head crane, receiving hopper, crusher de-stemmer and various pumps.
• Operate Grape presses including filling, programming, emptying and cleaning.
• Operate various types of filtration equipment such as D.E. filter, Rotary Drum Vacuum filter, Cross Flow filter and Pad Filter.
• Set up and operate Selective Tartrate Removal System (S.T.A.R.S.)
• Handle sanitation chemicals safely while wearing all Personal Protective Wear.
• Clean and sanitize all tanks hoses and equipment after being used.
• Accurately measure and add all requested additions to wine.
• Operate a fork lift when required (if certified).
• Operate an articulating boom lift when required (if certified)
• Perform various duties on Bottling Line such as loading glass, packing boxes, case stickering or stacking boxes if required
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and highly motivated person with a passion for winemaking and have at least two years of cellar experience.
Additional Qualifications include:
• Reliable transportation and legally permitted to work in Canada
• Effective communication skills
• Team player with a positive attitude
• Fine attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• The ability to lift, bend, rotate and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as necessary (during Vintage)
• Tow motor/ Boom Lift/ WHMIS certification an asset
