We are currently seeking a mechanically inclined and highly motivated Cellar Worker to join our Cellars team at Trius Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Cellar Worker is responsible for processing Winery Information Software (WIS) tickets while working in a safe and efficient manner.
The successful candidate will be accountable for:
- Operating equipment to crush and ferment grapes
- Operating equipment to process, clarify and filter wine
- Making material additions to juice and wine
- Cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment and work area
- Ensuring wine is sent to Bottling in a timely manor
- Following ABS procedures and policies; reporting any deviations
- Inventory of materials and wines as requested
- Operating cellar equipment in order to maintain efficient operation and generate a Maintenance work order for repair when needed
- Promoting a health & safety culture by ensuring a safe and healthy work environment through effective operation of the Health and Safety program, joint H&S committee (if applicable) and compliance with EH&S regulations
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:
- 3-5 years experience in a winery environment
- Oenology and Viticulture Degree or Diploma an asset
- Cellar work experience essential
- Apptitude for barrel management and operation
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate a forklift
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport across cross-functional departments
- Ability to work independently and manage workload
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow
- Able to lift up to 22kgs
- Available for rotating shift work (days, afternoons, nightshift, and some holidays required
