Diamond Estates Winery is home to a wide selection of top-selling VQA wines, including Lakeview Cellars, EastDell, 20 Bees, FRESH wines, 1914 wines and Dan Aykroyd’s line of wines, producing 200,000 cases/year. The winery produces a full range of red, white and rosé table wines, Icewine and other dessert and fruit wines.
With a full state of the art lab, an extensive barrel cellar, and 4 million-liter tank capacity, we offer training on, and exposure to, a wide variety of techniques, equipment and innovations practiced in our winemaking facility.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic full time Laboratory Assistant starting on May 1 2017

This position will involve a full range of chemical lab analysis work as well as helping with crush/production when required, reporting to the Oenologist and Winemakers.

Responsibilities include:

- Responsible to assist Oenologist in all aspects of the analysis of juice, fermenting and finished wines in a timely manner

- Collect and prepare samples for analysis, fining trials and other bench trials

- Assist with data entry and record keeping of all analysis

- Preparation of chemical stock reagents 

- Follow all quality assurance and control procedures to maintain laboratory credibility

- Responsible for conducting sensory evaluations and recommendations of treatments to improve wine quality

- Assist with winemaking and wine processing trials and experiments, including reporting results

- Assist in the preparation of all outgoing samples with appropriate paperwork

- Work with Oenologist maintaining MSDS on hazardous materials used is the work place ensuring complete and up to date info.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic graduate majoring in Oenology and Viticulture, Chemistry, Biology or Life Sciences or a related field with a passion for winemaking.

Additional Qualifications include:

-      Reliable transportation & legally permitted to work in Canada

-      Strong Chemistry background 

-      The ability to lift, bend, rotate and carry up to 50 lbs.

-      Strong written and verbal English skills 

-      Ability to work independently and within a team environment

 -     Availability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as necessary
