Wild Goose Vineyards and Winery is looking for a cellar person for harvest 2017. We are looking to hire a friendly, up-beat harvest person to join our winemaking team from September 4/ 2017 until Dec. 31/17.
This is an excellent opportunity for a cellar worker to build experience and skills in cellar operations and be exposed to premium winemaking in British Columbia. Local and foreign applicants are welcome.
Key responsibilities will be to:
- Set up, operate and clean crusher/destemmer, must pump, grape press(2)
operation
- Rotary vacumn drum filter operation
- Floatation operation
- Clean and sanitize tanks, hoses, pumps and other equipment
- Racking, additions and pump-overs of fermenting wine
- Monitor ferments with other winemaking staff
- Cleaning, filling and topping barrels
- Assist with filtration
- Maintain a clean, safe and sanitary work environment
- Labwork
- Field Sampling
Other duties include:
- Grape harvesting
- Loading/unloading delivery trucks, preparing pallets for delivery
Qualifications:
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing for long periods of time, working outside, working in cold and wet conditions, lifting up to 50lbs, and comfortable with heights.
- Positive attitude is a must
- Organized and punctual
- Technical or trade school degree would be an asset, but not necessary
- Lab experience is a bonus
- Forklift experieince is an asset
- Prior work experience in a winery is preferred
- Must be able to work long and flexible hours
- Non smoking canidates preferred
