Head Winemaker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Our client is an award winning vineyard and hospitality destination is inspired by a high quality collection of wines and fabulous views of the Okanagan Lake and valley.  They are growing, investing in their facilities and are not satisfied yet.  As such, they are seeking a HEAD WINEMAKER to oversee their entire operation.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the entire production process of creating award winning wines, including grape harvesting, crushing, fermentation, aging, blending and bottling.
  •  Set production schedules in line with the capabilities of the facility and the needs of the market.
  • Manage inventory levels of supplies and materials used in the production of wine.
  •  Supervise maintenance and repair of equipment and tanks used in the cellar operation.
  • Determine the need for and manage outside contractors as needed.
  • Collaborate with the winemaking team to plan blends and products to be produced to meet the projections of the sales group
  • Participate in PR activities and lead public and private tours as needed· 

The ideal background will include:

  • Several years of demonstrated success in creating high quality award winning wines.
  • A current Head Winemaker in a mid-sized winery or possibly an Assistant Winemaker in a large vineyard who has worked under quality mentorship.

  • Formal education in winemaking or Oenology is a definite asset.

  • International experience is highly regarded.
  • The ability to inspire through your people management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A strong sense of passion and urgency with a focus on quality.
