Mobile Flexible Beverage Packaging
The position of Lead Operator is a contract position from March – August 2016. The successful candidate will be involved from the ground up with a new business positioned to grow quickly.
Job Title: Lead Operator of Mobile Beverage Packaging Unit
Job Summary: Reporting to the Operations Manager – Travel to clients’ production facilities with the mobile unit, coordinate the tasks required for the operation of the filling machine. With the Assistant Operator, process the filling of the product with the proper packaging.
Duties and Responsibilities - Customer Packaging:
· Coordinate all scheduled services to ensure the required packaging and equipment is set up for each account on the designated date
· Coordinate set-up and prep of the line and filling area with the Assistant Operator
· Complete the filling of the wine/juice packaging including change in varietals and/or packaging
· Maintain established production and quality levels with a high sense of urgency
· Demonstrate customer centered attitude and professional appearance.
· Complete administrative follow-up duties as required
Duties and Responsibilities - Equipment Operation:
· Safe handling and maintenance of truck and trailer
· Proficiency in use of the semi-automatic filling equipment
· Optimize filling speed and ensure quality standards
· Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and mobile filling unit.
· Conduct basic inspections of all moving components during operation
· Ensure completed product is warehoused as winery instructed.
· Complete clean up and removal of all equipment and packaging product
· Ensure on-going maintenance and repair are fulfilled of filling machinery
Working environment:
· Required to lift/carry up to 75 pounds
· Required travelling throughout BC, primarily the Okanagan
· 8-12 hour working days, Monday to Friday, some overtime hours may be required
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to crouch under, step over, and move around equipment in tight quarters; ascend/descend stairs and trailer doors
· The noise level in the work environment is usually noisy and is fast paced
· The employee will occasionally have exposure to the outside weather
Job Requirements:
· Two years bottling or beverage packaging experience or experience in wine production
· Knowledge of industrial technology, industrial machine operation
· Skilled in utilizing basic hand tools (pliers, wrench, screwdriver, knife, etc) to perform machine adjustments and minor repairs
· Valid Class 1 driver’s license or license with Heavy Trailer endorsement with a clean driving record
· Flexible schedule
· Food Safe Certification
· Adapt quickly to a team environment
· Ability to excel in a deadline driven, fast paced environment
