Laughing Stock Vineyards is a boutique, 7,000 case winery located on the Naramata Bench in the Okanagan Valley. We are dedicated to producing handcrafted premium wines from vineyards in both the Naramata Bench and Osoyoos areas.
We are looking for a hard-working and skilled individual to be part of our vineyard and harvest team starting February 2017. The position involves all aspects of viticulture prior to harvest including
- Working with the winery management team with full year planning and scheduling for viticulture activities on both estate vineyards and independent grower vineyards with premium quality growing practices
- Manage operations of the vineyard including soil management, irrigation, disease and weed control
- Managing crew for hand labour and be involved with hand tasks like pruning, tying, shoot suckering, leaf and fruit thinning and harvesting fruit
- Tractor work and managing of spray program
- Leading property maintenance including landscaping & repair work
- Assisting winery staff as needed particularly during bottling and harvest periods
- Support sustainable viticulture approach.
Requirements: Successful candidates would include some or all of the following:
- A degree or certification in viticulture
- Minimum 3 years previous vineyard experience including managing of labour
- Proficient tractor and equipment skills with a mechanical aptitude
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual labour include long working days outside as required
- Ability to work independently as well part of a team
- To be safety aware
- Must have a Canadian work visa
This is a full-time position requiring residency in the South Okanagan. Position to be filled in January 2017. Compensation package catered to match applicants experience and skill set.
