Since the release of its inaugural 2011 vintage Culmina has established a reputation for crafting wines of exceptional quality; wines which are anchored in the outstanding mineral rich glacial alluvial fan soils of its estate on the Golden Mile Bench in the south Okanagan valley. A true sense of place has been reflected in the unique terroir.
The passion to produce and market the very best iconic wines in Canada is buttressed by meticulous micro management of the vineyard which in turn is supported by the most advanced vineyard monitoring and management systems available. This passion has also extended to the winery where no stone has gone unturned in the relentless pursuit of quality.
One of the first to achieve Salmon Safe status, Culmina is also committed to sustainable vineyard and winery practices.
The winemaking philosophy at Culmina revolves around two principles: gentle handling of fruit and minimal intervention. Since its inception Culmina’s philosophy has been to aggressively test leading edge technology in every facet of its business.
Culmina is searching for a winemaker who is highly competent in his/her craft, who is sufficiently confident to thrive and grow in an environment with input from a top winemaking consultant, who will enhance a dynamic, challenging and passionate management team, and who is excited by the potential of Culmina’s unique Golden Mile Bench terroir.
The ideal candidate:

Formal winemaking degree and ability to work in consultation with our Bordeaux based consultant and management team with the goal of making Icon quality wines that are a true reflection of the Golden Mile Bench Terrior.

Minimum 5-10 years’ experience making premium quality wines along with the corresponding awards and accolades associated with making such wines. Experience working with Bordeaux reds, Chardonnay and Riesling.

Commit to the long term vision and dedication required to see the wines go to market and have the flexibility to make any changes needed to continue the path of highest quality wines in Canada.

Outstanding communication skills to be an integral part of the senior management team, ability to work in concert with the Triggs family and dedicated wine consultant.
Key Functions:

Undertake all winemaking tasks associated with the production, storage, and bottling of wines at the winery.

Supervise cellar master, all seasonal winery staff and overall management of the winery.

Develop budgets associated with running the winery, manage costs, maintenance of buildings and winery equipment to the high standards associated with an iconic winery.

Grape forecasts, wine production forecasts, bottling schedules and other reporting as required
