Black Hills Estate Winery (BHEW) is a very prestigious and successful winery operating on the famed Black Sage Road between Oliver and Osoyoos, B.C. in Canada. From this spectacular terroir, our winery has been producing exceptional wines including our flagship Nota Bene, Alibi, Carmenere, Viognier and Syrah wines.
Thanks to our success and our growth, we have created a new position in our business. Thus we are now recruiting for the position of Intermediate level Bookkeeper and Accountant. This will be a full-time, year- round salaried position. This position will work very closely with the existing team at Black Hills Estate Winery and will report directly to Amy Bailey, Controller and indirectly to Glenn Fawcett, President. The individual hired will be a team player, a leader, and a self-starter who can create positive long term working relationships with all employees, suppliers, trade associations and the local community.
General duties for this position include:
Hands on involvement in numerous facets of the bookkeeping and accounting with Black Hills Estate Winery. Including:

Financial statement preparation
-
Budget preparation
-
Full cycle accounting process
-
General journal preparation
-
Payroll and BC labour laws
-
Process all sales to include (daily):
-
Licensees/LRS/Agency/VQA
-
Online and wine shop
-
Other Provinces
-
Prepare bank deposits
-
Process all payment invoices (daily)
-
Produce cheques for vendors (bi-weekly)
-
Process all payroll cheques and direct deposits bi-weekly
-
Process all government remittances (GST, PST, Payroll taxes, etc.) bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly
-
Remit Excise Tax reports (monthly)
-
Remit LDB reports (monthly)
-
Prepare documentation and reports for annual audit (Jan-Feb)
-
Prepare annual financial statements for the LP’s (Jan-Mar)
-
Review inventory processes
-
Review all internal controls
-
Open and distribute mail
-
Monthly reporting to banks
Education, skills and experience
-
CPA student or recent graduate
-
Knowledge of Microsoft NAV an asset

Previous wine industry experience, while beneficial, is not mandatory

Candidates must have the necessary legal documentation to work in Canada.

Hours of work and compensation

This is a full-time, year-round salaried position working Monday to Friday.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
