Oenologist / Cellar Worker (Maternity Leave)
We have a full time position available for the right applicant at Tinhorn Creek that encompasses laboratory, quality control, and cellar skills. The position can start immediately and will eventually cover a maternity leave position for the majority of 2016.
We are a 450 Tonnes winery in the heart of the South Okanagan wine region, with vineyards on both the Golden Mile Bench and the Black Sage Bench. We produce roughly 50:50 white and red, and our two unique vineyard sites allow us to grow both Bordeaux and Burgundy varietals, with a dash of Syrah and Gewurztraminer as well. We employ a basic and natural winemaking approach and have a small but skilled team you would enjoy working with.
Compensation: Hourly wage over the initial harvest period and salary for the remainder of the contract. Rate based on experience.
This position encompasses all aspects of working in winery production areas.
Requirements of the position:
- Must have a degree/diploma in Oenology
- Prior winery cellar experience an asset
- Ability to handle physical work
- High degree of organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates a willingness to work cooperatively with a team
- Able to lift cases of wine (approx. 37lbs) repeatedly
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
