Culmina is a family-run estate located in Oliver, BC. Conceived in 2007, Don, Elaine, and Sara Triggs started with a simple goal: to make the highest quality wines from their own family's estate.
We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented, and hard-working person to join our passionate and wine loving Vineyard & Winery team. The incumbent will work under the supervision of our Vineyard Manager & Winemaker, Jean-Marc Enixon, primarily in the vineyard, but also in other areas of the business, as required. Responsibilities include:
Vineyard
- Carefully execute tractor driving activities in the vineyard on a daily basis, including but not limited to: hedging, mowing, mulching, and spraying
- Use tillage and fertilizer equipment
- Play a key role at harvest time in the vineyard, supporting the management of all seasonal workers when bringing in the fruit
- Support pruning and other vineyard activities in the low-season
Safety & Maintenance
- Keep all vineyard records, including but not limited to spray records, accurate and up to date
- Act on Culmina's safety committee, attending regular meetings
- Ensure safe operating procedures for vineyard and winery
- Employ preventative strategies for maintenance and monitor all vineyard equipment for issues
General
- Ensure that the 'housekeeping' of the vineyard and winery is consistent with that of an 'icon' estate
- Optimize efficiencies and use of all resources (labour, equipment, materials)
- Represent Culmina's values when working with third party suppliers
Requirements include:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 3 years of tractor driving experience
- Up-to-date spray applicator certification
- Experience carrying out maintenance on tractor and other equipment including oil and filter changes
- Excellent stamina, strength, and physical fitness
- Working knowledge of grape growing techniques
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Ability to work within a compact team
- Ability to work weekends and long hours when required
- Good computer literacy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A strong work ethic, integrity, and reliability
- Forklift ticket considered an asset
- Ability to safely lift up to 25 kg
- A current drivers license
