Adamo Estate Winery is a new, premium quality, boutique size winery just outside of Orangeville, Ontario. We produce 5000 cases annually with both estate and Niagara grapes. Adamo Estate Vineyard is currently 14 acres and is growing annually, as well as transitioning toward certified Organics.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual that has both vineyard and winery experience and a minimum of 3 completed vintages. This person must have a hands-on approach and is able to lift 50 pounds. Knowledge and experience with both winemaking and viticulture is necessary. As well, experience tractor driving and a valid forklift license is preferred. In the vineyard knowledge and practice of pruning, tying, shoot positioning, thinning, leaf removal, vine balance, integrated pest management and identification as well as spraying, weeding and berry sampling is mandatory. In the winery crush experience including but not limited to processing (de-stemming, crushing, pressing), setting, racking, pump-overs, punch downs, fermentation management, barrel work and some laboratory skills are necessary.
This individual will be working closely with the Winemaker and Vineyard Manager and will be involved with all activities in the vineyard from pruning until harvest followed by the all winemaking activities from crush to bottling.
The successful candidate must:
- be self-motivated, organized and responsible
- be detail oriented with good communication skills
- be able to work with a team or individually
- be able to take direction well and willing to learn new practices
- have a valid drivers license
- be able to work long hours
- have mechanical aptitude
Compensation will be awarded based on experience and is competitive with industry standards.
Contract is for 8 months April 2015-December 2015
