Phantom Creek Estates is a brand new winery opening this Fall 2016.
It is located on the Black Sage bench next to Black Hills and Burrowing Owl, and was formerly known as TIME winery on the Sundial Vineyard. This is the most awarded vineyard in British Columbia.
James Cluer MW is responsible for this project on behalf of the new owner. This harvest 2016 we will be exclusively producing premium meritage red wines from this property. The Winemakers in charge are Cameron and Annie Vawter, who have moved to the Okanagan from Napa Valley where they have been making 100 point wines and consulting to prestigious wineries.
We are searching for 2 qualified and motivated harvest assistants to help in the inaugural vintage of what will be one of the most excited winery projects in the Okanagan Valley. You will be rewarded by the experience and education of working on the production of super premium quality Bordeaux varietal wines under the mentorship of some of the top winemakers in the field.
The successful applicants will perform a wide variety of roles from hand sorting fruit, operating top tier equipment including optical sorters, hone their coopering skills through barrel fermantations, manage a large number of small lot fermentations, barrel management, wine movements, wine analysis on premium equipment, cleaning and practcising good hygiene.
The ideal candidates have a B.S. or equivalent degree in Viticulture and Enology, and or Agriculture and Food Science, or the WSET Diploma. Candidates must have at least 2 winery harvest experiences under their belt. Experience in engine mechanics and equipment operation is a huge plus. Mostly, we are looking for hard working team players with a positive attitude. There is the potential for a full time job after the harvest.
The positions will start on approximately August 15th and end on approximately December 15th. Compensation will be attractive but candidates must have their own lodgings and transportation.
