Representative, Sales (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

JOB PURPOSE

• To develop and grow our VQA Domestic & Import brand customer base within the designated territory - growth achieved via Volume, Sales Revenue and Points of Distribution 

• Achieve annual targets while managing budgets, forecasts and new business development 

• This position includes but is not limited to the following: 

 - Becoming the # 1 Gold Standard supplier for the licensee accounts for your territory 

 - Instigating the controls and disciplines to allow for exceptional customer management 

 - Develop strong and dynamic relationships with all key customers/partners 

 - Manage the volume and spend for your individual customers to ensure a positive Return on Investment 

 - Manage individual SG&A Budget (selling/general/admin) 

 - Develop and mentor territory Sales Associate (SA) to achieve sales targets success 

• Become well versed in the development and presenting of RFP’s (request for proposal) to key customers to ensure we win the business.  Due diligence required.  

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Sales Associate management: 

• Teach and mentor the SA with his/her management experience in order for them to drive growth and hit plan

Territory Management:

• Achieve minimum call frequency target 

• Achieve minimum Key Decision Maker touch target 

• Achieve targets for listings, points of distribution and annual volume & revenue targets 

• Manage personal spending budget (SG&A) 

• Maintain existing customer relationships and grow licensee business (reporting tools available) 

• Build new customer base through cold calling and leads 

• Specialized focus on VQA & Core Import portfolio 

• Manage sales associate schedule 

• Conduct staff training /consumer tasting / wine seminars 

• Develop and create Wine Lists (wine consultant role) 

• Secure features and trade marketing promotions (incentive targets) 

• Create & submit proposals for any business going to tender 

• Work closely with marketing, trade marketing, customer service and winemaking

Administration:

• Submission of timely and accurate sales reports for your customers 

• Timely submission of personal expenses 

• Accurate Sales Force.com (SFDC):  call frequency, KDM touches, listings and annual targets 

• Organizing calendars, planning for the week, reading through the Strategic Accounts materials sent out weekly 

• Building customer wine lists/menus & promotional feature cards 

• Gathering competitive information and submitting territory specific details via monthly reports 

• Research opportunities for new business (cold calls)

Requirements of an ideal candidate:
• University Degree or College diploma 
• Previous beverage alcohol sales experience a definite asset 
• Previous experience / understating of the On-Premise channel a definite asset 
• Wine Education / knowledge (formal qualifications WSET, a strong asset) 
• Must reside or being willing to locate to the Ottawa region 
• Must have a valid drivers’ license 
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task 
• Strong presentation & proven leadership skills 
• High level of initiative and creativity 
• Adaptable to a changing work environment and portfolio 
• Works well both independently and as part of team
• Proven track record of building lasting relationships with key customers 
• Effective oral and written communication skills 
• Sales ability/persuasiveness that translates to sales (“closing”) 
• Experience in building and maintaining business partnerships 
• Results oriented 
• Efficient in Microsoft office applications 
• Flexibility, occasional weekend and evening requirements 
• Detail Oriented
