Pentâge Winery is a well-established boutique winery situated in Penticton, BC, known for producing exceptional small-lot wines.  We are currently seeking a dedicated full-time Cellar Master/Vineyard Assistant to join our team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and a profound interest for the intricacies of winemaking and viticulture. The ideal candidate will enjoy working between the vineyard and cellar, possessing a comprehensive understanding of cellar operations and demonstrating a passion for hands-on viticulture work.

Job Description (but not limited to):

Cellar Responsibilities:

Proficient in all cellar tasks, including cleaning, sanitizing, punch downs, pump overs, monitoring ferments, racking, transfers, wine additions, barrel work, blending, fining, filtering, bottling and operating a forklift.

Ability to oversee crush pad operations, including receiving grapes, pressing, destemming/crushing and equipment maintenance.

Maintain accurate wine records using Excel and Word.

Conduct laboratory wine testing.

 

Vineyard Responsibilities: 

Apply viticulture knowledge to manage and perform vineyard tasks such as pruning, suckering, thinning, tucking and general maintenance.

Operate farm equipment, including tractors, sprayers, mowers etc.

Demonstrate leadership by overseeing foreign workers to maintain productivity and quality standards.

 

Qualifications:

-          Minimum 2-3 years direct cellar and vineyard experience

-          Technical Degree/Diploma in Winemaking and or Viticulture is an asset

-          Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work both independently and part of a team

-          Proficiency in operating all farm equipment

-          Strong communication skills and ability to organize and prioritize tasks

-          Mechanical skills in relation to winery equipment maintenance is an asset

-          Knowledge of Microsoft and Excel is desirable

-          Valid driver’s license is required

-          Applicant must be able to lift 50lbs+

-          Basic verbal Spanish would be an asset

Must be legally able to work in Canada and fluent in English
