Harvest Intern Positions Available for the

Okanagan Valley, Beautiful British Columbia, Canada

Red Rooster Winery is located on the Naramata Bench, in the sunny Okanagan Valley.  A small premium winery that process ~550 tonnes annually.  We are currently seeking highly motivated Harvest Cellar Staff with a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.  We are very passionate about our wines and want to see the same passion in you.  If you are a hands on, dependable winemaking enthusiast we have positions available for our 2017 Harvest season (September December).

Duties:

• Grape receiving, crushing, pressing, racking, pumice-transfers, juice and must additions, inoculations, punch downs, pump-overs, barrel prep/filling, sanitation, and general winery operations.
• Harvest/crush laboratory analysis
• Vineyard scouting and maturity sampling
• Assists where needed during busy harvest season; some long hours required
• Must be able to perform all job functions in strict adherence to company Health and Safety protocols, and in accordance with quality control standards and standard equipment operating procedures

Requirements:

• High school diploma
• Minimum of 2 years winery experience, and vocational diploma in winemaking or related degree
• Must be able to begin working in mid August and continue working through early December
• Ability to perform work duties in and outdoors
• Strong technical skills and prior crush experience
• Ability to understand and perform basic math.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and written
• Forklift experience is an asset but not required
• First aid experience is an asset but not required
• Confined space permit and experience an asset but not required
• Must have Canadian citizenship/residency or a valid Canadian work permit

Physical Requirements/Environment:

• Temperatures in the cellar are cool and noise level is usually moderate
• Some heavy lifting is required
• Working at heights is required
• Shift work and weekend work is required
