Marketing Coordinator

Summary

Responsible for all marketing and social media initiatives,  including materials and scheduling, to achieve a coordinated marketing program aimed at driving sales, preserving and enhancing brand image and attaining and maintaining a preeminent place in the market.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Take on the lead creation, coordination and internal authorization, implementation and maintenance role in all marketing campaigns whether print, online, TV, radio, direct-to-consumer advertising or otherwise;
  • Maintain a clear message and a consistent brand image across all media and advise management of what is lacking or in need of change;
  • Liaise between the brand and its advertising partners, suppliers and all those represented by the marketing that is produced and released to the public;
  • Works to make sure all parties are in agreement about, and appropriate internal authorizations are obtained regarding,  the content and specifics of each ad campaign;
  • Schedule marketing initiatives include deadlines for every step of the creation process, proof and draft delivery dates, run times and other considerations;
  • Track competitor activity by keeping abreast of market changes and the marketing mix used by competitors
  • Create company press releases and coordinate their internal authorization;
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of promotions to drive ecommerce sales by creating interesting and unique ways to drive new business online;
  • Gather and write content for monthly Poplar Grove newsletter; and
  • Produce clear and concise written correspondence in the form of letters and emails

 Website and Social Media Responsibilities:

  • Complete general website updates (such as new wines, new awards, winery news, ecommerce additions, updates to shop finder section);
  • Create, design and implement social media contests and content to drive following and extend the reach of the following social media channels:
    • Twitter
    • Facebook
    • LinkedIn
    • Instagram
    • Website blog
  • Lead the design of a new and continuously evolving social media strategic plan that ensures a consistent and captivating Poplar Grove voice;
  • Implement the social media strategic plan;
  • Train the Poplar Grove team to use social media channels to promote the winery;
  • Develop fresh content for social media that is in-line with Poplar Grove’s Brand Strategy; and
  • Co-ordinate the development of educational content (materials) to be used as social media content and staff training tools.

 Administrative responsibilities:

 Maintain marketing budget;

  • Monitor and co-ordinate weekly VQA shipping;
  • Co-ordinate monthly Inventory;
  • Manage bottle QR codes to ensure that they are working;
  • Enter scheduled Wine Competitions and co-ordinate shipping of wine samples to each competition;
  • Create technical sheets and shelf talkers for newly released wines.

Education

  • University or College degree in Business or Communications; or five to ten years related sales and marketing experience and/or training preferably in wine industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Wine course training preferred.
  • Experience in sales and inventory database software.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

 

  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of wine / viticulture / wine production;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent command of written English with copy accuracy;
  • Strong team player with enthusiastic outlook and an “out of the box” mindset; leading by example, demonstrating integrity and a commitment to creating and maintaining a positive work atmosphere;
  • Demonstrated communication skills – direct, professional and knowledgeable;
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, to plan, organize and prioritize; proficiency in time management;
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), desktop publishing programs;
  • Confident, outgoing and passionate about wine and food;
  • Able to work evenings and weekends; calendar flexibility;
  • Capable of lifting 45 lbs.
