Cellar Hand - Full Time/Contract (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery was established with our first vintage in 1988. At that time we were one of a very few estate wineries dedicated to producing premium quality wines made from 100% Ontario grown grapes. Today, Henry of Pelham is a 200K+ case producer in Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula.

We are looking for two enthusiastic individuals to join our cellar team.

The first position is a 6 month full-time contract from approximately mid-August 2017 to mid-February 2018. There is potential for an extension of the contract and a possibility of this becoming a full time permanent position for the right candidate.

The second position is a shorter 2-3 month contract during the busy harvest period from September 2017 to November 2017.

Successful candidates are:

• Highly motivated and have a strong work ethic

• Can work well in a team

• Strong communication skills

• Motivated and passionate about making high quality wine

• Able to lift 25kg and able to work at heights 

• Strong adherence to safety and operational procedures

• Willing to work shift hours including weekends during harvest

• Must be legally able to work in Canada

Job tasks will include:

• Racking juices and wines  

• Inoculations, juice/fermentation/wine additions

• Pump overs and punch downs on red ferments

• Pressing out of red fermenters

• Barrel work: filling, topping, stacking, emptying

• Cleaning and sterilizing tanks and equipment, maintaining a clean and safe cellar space

• Filtrations of wines: cross flow, pad filter, diatomaceous earth

• Other duties as required
