Company Overview
The Grape Growers of Ontario was founded in 1947 and is an independent, self-governing farming organization which represents and is funded by over 500 processing growers and 17,000 acres in Ontario including growers who grow wine and juice grapes. Governance of the organization is provided by a 10-member Board of Directors elected by a 21-member Growers’ Committee. Day-to-day operations are conducted by a team of 4 employees led by an experienced CEO.
Ontario Grape and Wine Research Inc. (OGWRI) represents industry research requirements for over 140 winery members through the Wine Council and the Winery Grower Alliance as well as more than 500 active grape growers through the Grape Growers of Ontario. OGWRI is dedicated to ensuring prosperous and sustainable growth within the Ontario grape and wine industry.
Job Description
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our established organization as a Grape Growers of Ontario Grower Support and Project Manager for the Ontario Grape and Wine Research Incorporation. This dual role includes the following:
Grape Growers of Ontario

Provide assistance and expertise to all members of the organization, industry representation and/or staff through the direction of the CEO;

Build strong relationships with existing and new growers;

Update and maintain internal systems at the Grape Growers of Ontario;

Analyze data from our web-based system for various reports;

Other related tasks.
Ontario Grape and Wine Research Inc.
This independent role will report to the OGWRI Board of Directors and:

Build strong business relationships with researchers and industry partners and ensuring needs are met on a consistent basis;

Ensure timely execution and delivery of projects and administration;

Collaborate with OGWRI Board of Directors, Technical Committee, legal and financial representation, researchers and their representation;

Accept, qualify and present research projects to the Board of Directors and Technical Committee;
-
Develop partnerships to negotiate and sign contracts with potential researchers;
-
Write and present annual development plans consistent with the objectives and the strategies of the organization.
Qualifications
-
Experience in grape and wine research or project management
-
Post-secondary education in a related field
-
Strong analytical skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
-
Demonstrate initiative and autonomy; Ability to multi-task and manage priorities
-
Computer literacy - working knowledge of MS Office applications with focus on Excel spreadsheets and Power Point presentations
-
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to convey ideas
-
Energetic, outgoing personality
