We grow over 100 acres of high quality grapes and our winery boasts more that 30 award winning wines and cider in both National and International competitions.
Puddicombe Estate Winery started making wine in 1998, with Lindsay Puddicombe as the winemaker. In 2000 we opened a retail store on site. When we opened we had 6 white wines and 4 red wines. Now we are the home to over 30 different wine and 4 cider varieties in our retail store.
Puddicombe Estate also introduced a new line up of products in 2012, Sir Isaac’s Premium Cider. We now produce and offer Pear, Peach, Apple Cranberry ciders and our new release of Puddicombe Family Tree Premium Apple Cider.
It is a smaller environment where winemaker and supervisory staff are involved and present at each one of the steps.
Puddicombe Estate is seeking a reliable and honest individual demonstrating solid teamwork and leadership skills to join our winemaking team as a full time cellar hand, either starting as a co-op position or graduate.
Responsibilities include the following:
§ Maintaining winery hygiene, including the sanitation of tanks and equipment
§ Transferring and racking tanks
§ Bulk wine management
§ Operating winery equipment (pumps, de-stemmers, presses, filters)
§ Grape receiving and processes
§ Preparing ingredients for additions including yeast cultures, nutrients and finings ingredients
§ Operating a forklift (stacking barrels, moving and stacking tanks and finished products)
§ Carrying out barrel operations (filling, topping, racking)
§ Red cap management and pressings
§ Blending/filtering wines & ciders
§ Bottling/canning of wines & ciders
Requirements are as follows:
§ Canadian citizenship or Permanent Residency
§ Post-secondary college or university education in Winemaking or similar equivalent
§ Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail.
§ Significant hands-on vintage and cellar experience
§ Ability to work within a compact team
§ Ability to work long hours (during vintage and whenever else required)
§ An excellent work ethic, reliability and integrity
§ A proven track record of achieving and maintaining high standards
§ Excellent communication skills
§ Ability to safely lift up to 25 kg
§ Strong forklift skills are a must
§ A current driver’s license
